First, let me start off by saying how elated I am about the WNBA being back. Life was given this weekend and I am prepared to have my edges snatched this summer.
The Stars did not get a fair shake as they start the season with back-to-back games on the road which resulted in losses. It would be tough for any team that has three games in one week. It is even more difficult with three of your top players are not in the lineup, but how bout that girl Mo Currie. Thank you for the laugh and for putting the team on your back this weekend. I think you all will be able to handle Phoenix on Friday if Mcbride, Plum and Jefferson are able to play, because it will so be the Mercury’s third game in a week. Shoutout to The Summitt for deeming the as “McPlumerson”
Quick takeaways from the weekend:
Elena is gonna Elena. She had 24 points in her debut with the Mystics, if this team can stay healthy they will be very dangerous.
The Lynx are still the Lynx. Like I don’t know what else to say. It was Big Syl that came through for them today and that’s with the twin towers in Chicago with Boyette and Dolson. The matchup will determine who shines on this squad and they are one of the deepest if not the deepest team in the league.
The Storm also started the season off with a back-to-back, but their second game was at home. They were able to hold off the Fever winning 87-82. It is hard to lose when you have four players scoring in double digits.
How bout them Wangs!
So, some thought that the youth movement would hinder Dallas, but they were the ones that stepped up and played with no fear today. Shoutout to the rookies in Kaela Davis and Allisha Gray thanks for carrying us today!
I have a feeling that we are going to be talking about these two all season. How about the effort on the boards though?! Dallas was like nah one and done on offense homie! They did not allow Brittney Griner and the Mercury to get one single offensive rebound. I was worried early because of the tough start. Also, Skylar Diggins-Smith came up short offensively. No, I am not worried. The shots will come. It was interesting that four of the starters from last year could not get going early. However, the effort from the rookies and Plaisance was all the team needed offensively to get by this Mercury team.
I am very impressed with the work on the boards and the hustle on the defensive end and I am looking forward to this season. Dallas stand up! The Wings are coming home and we need to be loud and rowdy! If we are going to have a shot at beating the Lynx we will need more offensive input from our vets. Let’s keep this train going on Saturday!
What did you all think of the Twitter stream? There was not score at first but it was added. There was a little more buffering that I would have liked but to me it was more clear than League Pass. I wonder what the numbers are for the stream because although there was some trash talk from trolls they were watching.
This weekend was fun! I cannot wait to get back home to catch my Wings in person. I have been out of town training for a new gig and I miss home! So, next weekend will be lit! If you are going to be at the game @ me!
